Zombie Cells (David Sinclair Book LIFESPAN - Part 8) - FORD BREWER MD MPH

Episode Summary

This video is part 8 of our series on David Sinclair's new book, "Lifespan: Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To." Here, we talk about "zombie cells," or senescent cells. These cells shut off epigenetics and many other cellular functions. They might help with cancer and healing, but they can aggravate inflammation and aging. Mayo developed Sprycel, a combination of dasatinib and quercetin, to deal with zombie cells. Sprycel led to a 30% improvement in lifespan when applied to lab animals.
