The medicine and medical training standards lead us to "whack-a-mole medicine." What's that? Doctors will train extra years specializing in specific organs, like the heart, brain, or kidney. However, disease processes start on a cellular and biochemical level. Until we reorganize medicine to focus on cells and biochemical metabolism, we will continue to waste our money on whack-a-mole medicine.
