The Glycocalyx: Where CV Damage Occurs?- FORD BREWER MD MPH

Episode Summary

This is a description of the Glycocalyx. Arteries & capillaries are like marsh rivers. The Glycocalyx is like the marsh grasses in the water. They slow the flow & create a separate environment. For marsh inhabitants ( & us), this environment at the water's edge is critical to life. Ever wonder why high blood sugar & insulin can be so damaging to the endothelium? Go means sugar. The glycocalyx is made of sugars. (& protein).
