Dr Ford Brewer - PrevMed

The Dangers of Statins Part 5: Why/ How I use them (Not for LDL but Plaque) - FORD BREWER MD MPH

Episode Summary

I don't recommend statins for LDL alone. Most docs do. I recommend statins only if you already have plaque. Here's why- if you have a plaque that obstructs flow, your 10-year risk of an event is 80%. If you have a plaque that DOESN'T obstruct flow - your 10-year risk is 40%. No plaque? No need for statins.
