This article speaks to the current debate over Reverse T3. Free T3 is an active Thyroid hormone, and Reverse T3 is inactive. The theory is that elevation of Reverse T3 can indicate hypothyroid disease, even when free T3 is standard. This has been seen and documented in significant hospitalized and ICU cases. But although there is much scientific logic supporting the theory of elevated reverse t3for chronic fatigue syndrome, there has been little scientific evidence supporting that theory.
