Believe it or not, there is a very large, valid study in a great science journal showing that low fasting blood glucose is a risk factor for diabetes (T2DM) and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD). Really? Here's the story... This was a huge study. It was done as a part of a national Japanese population study of 40 to 70 yo. There were 2 clarifications: 1. the increased risk started in the 70s and lower; and 2. this has been associated with increased smoking and inactivity in similar populations. This still leaves other questions. But I don't think it means people with low fasting glucose and a great lifestyle ( good exercise, good diet, no smoking) have any increased ford brrisks to consider based on this study.
