Genetic Diseases as Models of Aging (David Sinclair Book LIFESPAN - Part 7) - FORD BREWER MD MPH

Episode Summary

This video is part 7 of our series on David Sinclair's new book, "Lifespan: Why We Age and Why We Don't Have To." David Sinclair and Valter Longo used specific genetic diseases as models for aging and disease prevention. Longo worked with patients in Ecuador with Laron syndrome, unable to use the growth hormone. On the other hand, Sinclair worked with patients with Werner syndrome, a genetic condition linked with premature aging. This is what led Sinclair to introduce the informational theory of aging.
