Chuck Smith has a remarkable family history and genetic factors regarding cardiovascular risk. At age 54, he had two stents. At age 56, he had a so-called “wild ride” experience to the hospital—he was having a heart attack as his Tesla drove him on autopilot. Chuck also successfully shed excess weight on a vegan diet. Still, his blood sugar, triglyceride HDL ratio, and other blood markers remained off the charts. He finally discovered he got insulin resistance, so he improved his numbers with diet and lifestyle changes.
